Present and absent nations
Not represented this year
6 countries have not renewed their ticket for the 2015 Worlds of Kaohsiung, despite their presence at the 2014 Worlds of Rosario, Argentina: Paraguay, Portugal, New-Guinea, Poland, Slovenia, Brazil and Croatia.
Taking part in 2015
Starting with Asia: Amongst the newcomers, in alphabetical order, here is Bangladesh! Its relative proximity to Kaohsiung may have made the coming of this delegation easier. Hong-Kong will be there too (very close to Kaohsiung), as well as India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand.
As for the American continent, Canada makes its comeback this year, with, unfortunately, one female representative only. If ice skating, and especially hockey, is very popular in the country of the Maple Leaf, skating clubs and national competitions are still rare.
In Europe, Hungary and the Czech Republic will be in the running on the track and road of Kaohsiung.
Iran will complete the ranks of the Middle East.
Africa will add Tanzania and Uganda to its list, which is still shorter than what it used to be in 2013.
Back in 2013…
2013 was a good year with 51 nations represented in Oostende. Countries like Cameroun, Cuba, Estonia, Guatemala, Kenya, Latvia, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden and Turkey had taken part in the worlds.
