More details are known about the cities that may host the 2017 Roller Games. As a reminder, the Roller Games have the will to gather the world championships of all the disciplines represented at the FIRS (International Federation of Roller Sports).
Rumour had it that Miami, USA, was candidate, but in the end it would seem that Barcelona, Spain, and Lima, Peru, are in the running. The two cities submitted their files before the dead line of October 31. Each city would have the support of their olympic committee as well as of their government.
Lima will host the Panamerican Games in 2019. As for Barcelona, the city has the wish to keep the image of a sports city, highlighted during the 1992 Olympic Games.
The final city choice will be made during the Assembly that will take place on February 21st, 2015 in Rome, Italy.
Note: Let’s note that the first Roller Games in history will take place the same year as the World Games in Poland. For want of sufficient means, it is sadly a safe bet that many federation will have to choose between those two meetings!
