The captain of the women’s Spanish senior team of rink hockey has announced her retirement. Marta Soler was one of the key-figures of the last ten years, in her country and in the world.
Marta Soler won’t play this season with the Aqua Femení Igualada. She won’t play with the Aqua Igualadina either. However, she won’t leave the world of rink hockey for all that, since she will focus on the coordination and promotion of the teams.
« I don’t know if it’s my final decision. In life, nothing lasts forever », Soler said. Her career is an example for women’s sport and for young players currently in training.
She won one World Championships and two European Championships with the national team, as well as three European Cups and the Women’s League Cup with Solimar Gijon. her impressive result list explains her influence on Spanish and international women’s rink hockey over the last ten years.
« We have founded a school of rink hockey and we coach 30 girls. We could federate the first U13 team, and we have enough players to make a ‘mini’ team. »
