Taking care of your skates and keeping your feet warm
Several speed skating shops offer neoprene shoe covers designed for skating. A few brands, such as K2 or Powerslide, produce shoe cover models.
You can also find 100% neoprene shoe covers designed for cyclotourists. Some of them can be used with skates.
The advantages of shoe covers

- Limiting the effects of rain, protecting the equipment
- Keeping your feet dry longer
You really must go for a model with a velcro strap. Try it before purchase if you can, to make sure the strap doesn’t touch the wheels.
Some models cover both the heel and the toes, like the one of the picture.
In the rain, humidity may come from the breathing holes underneath the shoe.
Check it out and use a non-absorbent rigid insole so that it doesn’t get soaking wet.
