Roman AbrateRoman Abrate is a French skater of international level. Born on November, 16th 1987 in Draguignan, he progressively increased in level throughout the years to reach the highest level of his discipline.

Roman starts skating in 2003 at 15, at the skatepark of Fréjus.
One year later, he wins the French Cup of Street Skating in Gap for his first participation in a national competition.

In 2005, two years after he started, he becomes a pro skater and wins the Half Pro Test in Fréjus, in his skatepark. He also achieves his first podium position at the FISE of Montpellier where he finishes 3rd.
In 2006 he ranks 6th of that same world renouned international competition.
Roman is spotted by USD (Universal Skate Design, a brand from the Conference/Powerslide), and gets more support to make himself known on the international scale. He competes in several European contests. He is featured on the DVD ‘Sans Prétention’ by Adrien Anne.
He receives a professional certificate in cooking.

In 2009 he enters the Razors Team (Sunshine distribution) and skates with the American skaters. His style made of huge air rotations is easily recognizable.

In 2010 he finished 3rd at the equivalent of the World Championships in Boston, USA. He also finishes 4th at the WRS world ranking (World Rolling Series).

That same year, he makes a noteworthy appearance in the skating DVD ‘Game Theory’.
In 2011, he commits in a partnership with the multisport magazine ‘Sportmag’ where he plays the question-and-answer game with internet users. He takes the 2nd place at the world ranking and gets his first French title.

In 2012 Roman wins most of the competitions he takes part in. He finishes 1st at the WRS world ranking and gets the title of world champion for the first time.

In 2013 his conception of street skating takes a new turn. He decides to create new tricks. With the help of Mathias Wecxsteen, a skating and ski freestyle instructor and former pro skater, he develops new tricks, including rotations such as double flips. He successfully manages his well-known Kangaroo flip and a double corkscrew, an off-axis rotation invention of his.

For the whole 7 years he’s been skating with the pros, Roman Abrate hasn’t stopped making new videos and promoting his sports in the media. The creation of his new tricks enabled him to capture the attention of newspapers and television.

A never-ending title list!
