Summary

Chengdu is the capital in the province of Sichuan, located in the center of China. It’s an average-sized city for the country, with a population of 9.2 millions.

The organisation had once again put a great deal of effort into building an enormous skatepark exploited by the skaters but also by the skateboarders and mostly by BMX riders. Prize-money wise, the skaters were quite spoiled: 3000 € for the winner, 2000 € for second place and 1000 € for 3rd. Perfect conditions to draw an interesting crowd.

The winning run of Joe Atkinson (UK)

Joe Atkinson started his run by a huge transfer between a step-up and an angled quarter pipe, doing safety grab. He continued with a back royal to quarter. We could tell that the commentator was a fan. The second run featured a couple of inverts, creative transfers and many 540’s. Efficient lines, we’ll let you judge by yourself:

Julien Cudot’s run (Fr) for 2nd place.

J. Cudot performed a few good tricks during his run: Alley Oop fish, 360 wallride, huge backflip cab at the end of his first run, 540, great misty, but lacked a bit of energy at the end of his runs. As a result, he bet everything on the last trick and dazzled the public with a wall to backflip. Check it out!

Nicolas Servy’s run (Fr) for 3rd place.

16-years-old Nicolas Servy has come a long way since last year. He started his run carefreely, waking up the public with a huge rocket misty, and an effortless zero air in transfer, just like his handplant. We could tell he was very confident and comfortable in his skates. He also managed some kind of 540 backflip during a transfer between two curbs, and threw a bunch of 360. His last trick was worth the wait, a double flatspin on the table, enjoy!
