Finals of the 500 m
Junior Women
Two Colombians, a Belgian and an American line up on the starting line. The Colombians make a false start. One of them is eliminated. The American, Francesca Bell (USA), takes the lead followed by the Belgian, Nymphe Keuleers (BEL). Colombian Kerstinck stays in the background, probably dampened by the elimination of her team mate. The arrival is tight though, the three skaters reaching the line almost at the same time, doing hawk finish. The American and the Colombian hold on a bit but it is Kerstinck Sarmiento (COL) who gets the gold in front of Francesca Bell (USA) and Nymphe Keuleers (BEL).
Junior Men
Two Colombians, one Italian and one skater from Chinese Taipei take the start. Colombia grapples with Chinese Taipei for the leading place. The two Colombians, Jaime Uribe and Alvaro Carrasquilla, finally manage to take the front in the last lap while the skater from Chinese Taipei, Lee Yu-Sheng, looks for a hole in vain. Colombia locks the arrival and gets the best places. Jaime Uribe (COL) imposes himself in front of his team mate, Alvaro Carrasquilla (COL) and Lee Yu-Sheng (TPE).
Finals of the 1000 m
Senior Women
Sandrine Tas (BEL) starts from the back of the pack. She catches up little by little to finally reach the front and impose herself in the homestretch. Korea gets 2nd place with Lim Jinseon (KOR) in front of German Mareike Thum (GER).
Senior Men
The Men’s final of the 1000 m gathers two skaters from Colombia, one from Chinese Taipei, one Korean, one Vietnamese, and one French. Alexis Contin (FRA) takes the reins with two Colombians in his stream, including Andres Jimenez. The latter attacks on the outside in the homestretch of the second-to-last lap.
In the last corner, the skater from Chinese Taipei changes his course and hits French Alexis Contin who loses his speed. Mauricio Garcia (DOM) makes the most of the opportunity to get 2nd place in front of Andrès Aguledo (COL). The skaters from Chinese Taipei is disqualified.
