No inline skating at Cologne Marathon any longer

Some of you may have already suspected or feared it: There will be no inline skating competition within the framework of the RheinEnergieMarathon Cologne presented by Sparkasse KölnBonn on September 14, 2014 any longer.

The declining participant figures over the last years and the logistic challenges of an integration of the competition into the overall event due to the new course are the decisive factors.

However, we now come to a point where the financial and logistic efforts do no longer justify the conduct.
We thank all persons – participants, volunteers and sponsors, that helped make the Cologne Skate Marathon a well-known, high-quality race in the national and international calendar.

We will not let inline skating fall into oblivion. Instead, we are searching for alternative possibilities to offer the sport an adequate platform in Cologne.
