Location of the Event
The Worlds take place in the west of Bankok, within the indoor Stadium of Huamark. Build 50 years ago, in 1966, for the 5th edition of the Asian Games, it is a 15.000-seat location, equiped with a surface suitable for competitive skating.
Competitors
The leading countries of the discipline, according to the October world ranking, are especially Russia, Italy and France. In total, nearly 180 skaters, coming from 23 different countries and 3 different continents (Europe, Asia and Oceania), take part in those Worlds of Inline Freestyle Skating.
The most represented coutries, in participant number, are: Russia (18), Thailand (18 – hosting country), Chinese Taipei (17), China (15), France (14), Hong Kong (12), Iran (11) as well as Italy (10).
Yet, let’s mention that China also has a good number of world titles and is eagerly awaited. The hosting country is far from being outdone too: remember the great feat of Thai Kanchanok Sawangsri who qualified for the Battle Final last year.
The 12 other Asian countries present for the event may also have surprises in store…
First Steps
On Thursday, November 17th, official 2-hour training time slots per 40 skaters had been scheduled for the competitors to get used to the competition surface.
The kick-off will be given on Friday morning with the Speed Slalom competition!
