The 500 m Finals

Junior B Men: First Italian Double on 500 m

The final of the Junior B Men opposed 2 French and 2 Italians: Lenoardo Martina and Enrico Rossetto against Flavien Foucher and Martin Ferrié. The Italians manage to counter attack the French. Enrico Rossetto wins in front of his compatriot Leonardo Martina. Martin Ferrié takes the 3rd place. Enrico Rossetto has done great feats since the beginning of the championships, the new Italian generation seems full of promisses.

Junior B Women: Second Italian Double

In the Women’s, Italy does it again in getting the two first places, like in the boys’. Georgia Bormida wins in front of Alessia Mincella. The French Chloé Geoffroy gets another bronze medal after the 300 m on track. The German Elisabeth Baier remains at the foot of the podium.

Junior A Men: Italy again

Thomas Dambrun was so close from getting this first title that has been slipping under his fingers since the beginning of the championships. The French has to resign himself for the silver, with hardly 5 centimeters separating him from the Italian Marco De Flaviis. Thomas however prevents a third Italian Double since Roberto Fiorito gets the bronze, in front of the other French of the final, Jonathan Bach.

Senior Men: The comeback of Gwendal Le Pivert

2 Italians against 2 French, the same scenario repeats itself again. After unlucky worlds because of an injury, Gwendal Le Pivert shows that he is still at the top for international sprints. The French leaves behind the Italian Andrea Angeletti and knows how to pull out in the last bend to get the victory. The 3rd place goes to Danny Sargoni (ITA) in front of Elton de Souza (FRA).

Senior Women: Vanessa Bittner’s quintuple victory

Like Manon Kamminga (7 titles) when the European Championships took place in the Netherlands, Vanessa Bittner (AUT) will leave her mark on those championships. The local skater gets a 5th title in front of the two Italians Erika Zanetti and Giulia Bongiorno. The German Laetishia Schimek ends up 4th.

The Point Races

Junior B Men: French Double

Bastien Lhomme (21 pts) becomes the European Champion of the 10 km point race on road in front of his compatriot Flavien Foucher (10 pts). Doucelin Pédicone only lacks 1 little point (7 pts) for a 100% French Top-3. The Italian Daniele Di Stefano takes the bronze (8 pts).

The French got well organized for their medal collection at the beginning of the race. Bastien Lhomme collected his points before letting his team mates getting some in turns. Bastien Lhomme gets the ultimate points on the line and Flavien Foucher wins the sprint of the pack.

Junior B Women: A lively race

In total, 10 skaters collect points.
The Italian Laura Lorenzato gets 13 points, against 8 for the Dutch Anna Van den Bos… but behind, the fight is tough for the 3rd place!
The German Larissa Gaiser gleans 5 points. She only owes her 3rd place to a better place at the arrival against Leire Larrasoain (ESP – 5 pts).
The French Myriam Talloussi and Mélanie Lizé finish at the foot of the podium.

Junior A Women: Elena Møller Rigas is a cut above the rest

The race is pretty balanced and many skaters collect points. Elena Møller Rigas (DEN) is yet a cut above the rest and cleverly manages her lead.
The Italians try to make up for their lost points without success. Elena Møller Rigas gets supplementary points, especially in winning the final sprint. Martina Zanini (ITA – 8 pts) takes the 2nd place in front of her compatriot Giada Santucci (8 pts). The French Charlotte Frouin finishes 4th with 7 points.

Junior A Men: Timothy Loubineaud like a boss

The rain interrupted the race. The situation was reviewed at 6pm according to the weather evolution. The race finally took place the next day.
And it’s the French Timothy Loubineaud who imposes himself with 21 points after a great collective performance from the French. Mathieu Gilbert and Quentin Giraudeau took care of the start of the race before letting Timothy do the rest of the collection in a breakaway with Daniel Niero (ITA – 10 pts) and Chris Huizinga (NED – 4 pts).

Senior Women

Francesca Lollobrigida (ITA) is a cut above the rest in the long-distance races of the 2015 Euro, just like Vanessa Bittner (AUT) with the sprints. The Italian skater wins 20 points against 9 only for her main opponent, the Dutch Manon Kamminga. Sandrine Tas completes the Top-3 with 8 points, in front of Mareike Thum (GER – 4 pts) and Clémence Halbout (FRA – 4 pts).

Senior Men: Forza Italia!

The Italian Fabio Francolini (14 pts) and the Belgian Bart Swings (10 pts), two specialists of the discipline, assert their experience. The 3rd place is played at the sprint and goes to the Spanish Paxti Peula (8 pts) who makes the difference against Jan Van Loon (NED – 7 pts) and Ewen Fernandez (FRA – 7 pts).
